This policy explains what data we process when you use OVMNI, for what purposes, and what control you have over it. We act as the controller of that data. By using the service you accept the practices described here; if you disagree, we ask that you not use it.
What data we process
- Account data: display name, email, password (stored only as an encrypted hash), avatar, bio, gender, country, and language that you choose or that your Google sign-in provides (name, email, and profile picture).
- Technical and connection data: IP address, connection status, and basic information about your browser or device, needed to set up the video call and protect the service.
- Session content: audio and video are transmitted in real time between participants, through a direct connection whenever possible, and are not recorded or stored on our servers; text messages are only relayed during the session.
- Payment data: if you pay the optional unban fee, an external payment provider processes the transaction; we only receive order identifiers, amount, currency, and status — never your card or wallet details.
- Usage data: usage metrics, such as the pages you visit, to understand and improve the service.
How we use your data
- Create your account, sign you in, and keep your session active.
- Connect you with other people and enable the real-time video call.
- Maintain safety: prevent abuse, apply moderation, and handle reports and penalties.
- Process the optional unban fee.
- Understand how the service is used in order to improve it.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect vital rights and interests.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
- Providers that run the service: database hosting, file storage, Google sign-in, payment processing, product analytics, and error monitoring. They access only what is strictly necessary for their function.
- Other people in the session: to connect the video call, your IP address is shared directly with the other person's device. This is inherent to any peer-to-peer connection and is not shown in the interface.
- Authorities: we may disclose information where the law requires it or where there is a reasonable suspicion of child sexual abuse material or other serious illegal activity.
International transfers
Some of our providers operate in the European Union and in other countries, so your data may be processed outside your country of residence. We apply reasonable measures to protect it, but remember that you are responsible for the information you choose to share on camera or in chat.
How long we keep your data
- We keep your account data for as long as the account remains active.
- Audio and video are never stored.
- We keep moderation evidence and records only as long as necessary to apply penalties, handle appeals, and protect the community.
- Session tokens expire automatically.
How to delete your data
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by writing to support@ovmni.cam. After we verify your identity, your account becomes unavailable immediately and the data is removed from our servers within 30 days, except for what we must keep to comply with a legal obligation.
How we protect your data
- We encrypt communications in transit, including video streams.
- Passwords are stored encrypted (hashed), never in plain text.
- Moderation evidence is stored in a private bucket with restricted access.
- Only authorized personnel can access user data.
Cookies
We use an essential session cookie to keep you signed in; without it you could not use your account. Our analytics provider may use identifiers to measure use of the site. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though doing so may affect how the service works.
External links
The service may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; any data you share on them is governed by their own policies.
Adults only and minors' data
The service is for adults only (at least 18). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we detect, or are told, that an account belongs to a minor, we block it and delete their data.
- For parents and guardians: if you believe a minor in your care has created an account, contact us and we will delete it immediately. We encourage you to supervise their activity and use parental-control tools.
- If you are under the legal age: do not use the service or provide us with data. Ask your parent or guardian to contact us to remove any information.
Reporting security vulnerabilities
If you believe you have found a security or privacy vulnerability, write to us at support@ovmni.cam with a detailed description. We review every report and will contact you if we need more information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy by publishing a new version on this page. We encourage you to check it from time to time; continued use of the service means you accept the changes.
